In today’s age of the mindnumbing “reality TV” it is nice to find gems out there. One of the gems I discovered was “Sense8”. Now I have Netflicks because of “Stranger Things” but “Sense8” is why I keep it.
Given the climate of the times a program such as “Sense8” is needed, desperately. This show, which is multi-cultural, multi-racial and is easily the most amazing show out there representing the LGBT community does all these things matter of factly as opposed to shoving it down your throat. That a transgendered actress plays a transgendered character on a show that is the brain child of a transgendered director would have been unimaginable a few years ago. As would the matter of fact portrayal of gay and lesbian relationships.
The sad reality though is that if you take away Netflix there likely as not would be no “Sense8”. There’s no way the show would work on network television given the nudity, and I am not sure paid television channels such as HBO, Cinemax or Showtime frankly would really know what to do with a “Sense8”.
I am carefully avoiding spoilers because friends, I want you to watch. I want you to watch one episode, then another, and another and allow yourself to be pulled into the story. Because if you do this the true message of the show will shine like a beacon on a hill.
